"G" License - Online - Firearms Qualification Course (8 Hours)

Choosing The Right Training, LLC., to obtain your "G" Armed Security license, students will gain an extensive and comprehensive understanding of the qualifications required to become a licensed security officer. With more than 40 years of collective expertise spanning the security industry, law enforcement, military service, and private investigations, our Chief Instructor will provide a detailed overview of the similarities and distinctions in firearms qualifications among law enforcement officers, correctional officers, and security officers. Also, TRT training courses meet and exceed the State of Florida "G" curriculum. Class sizes are limited (max. 12) to ensure trainees are taught in a controlled and comfortable environment. We prepare our Security Officers to take their place in a fast-growing and rewarding career. This 8-hour course is the mandatory in-person range qualification, part of the required 28-hour training for armed security officers. This 8-hour course completes the range training requirement after finishing the initial 20-hour online course. This session focuses on firearm safety, marksmanship, and live-fire qualification with a certified instructor, usually following 20 hours of classroom instruction.

Key Aspects of the 8-Hour Class G Range Training:

Requirements: Students must bring a functional firearm (if the students do not have the required firearm, we can supply a student with a firearm for an additional cost), 144 rounds of ammunition, and safety gear (such as eye/ear protection).
Live Fire Qualification: Participants must fire 144 rounds total, including 1 practice round and 2 qualification rounds (totaling 48 rounds each stage of fire).
Passing Criteria: A minimum score of 168 (70%) out of 240 (100%) points is required to pass the qualification.
Focus Areas: Stance, grip, trigger control, and safe handling under stressful situations.

Just some Armed Security Officer Description: An Armed Security Officer covers bodyguard and executive protection, property protection, prisoner transport, and armored car operations, and includes patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, and controlling access to ensure the safety of people and property. Key duties include observing and responding to alarms, accidents, and emergencies; preventing incidents; enforcing standard security procedures and protocols; and writing detailed reports. Any individual who performs ARMED services must have any of the following Class Licenses: “C”, “CC”, “D”, “MA”, “MB”, and “M” licenses.

An applicant for a Class “G” license must submit proof of successful completion of a minimum of 28 hours of professional training at a school or training facility licensed by the department.

Each student is responsible for reading and reviewing all course-related material. Your instructor will discuss general rules of firearms safety, and you will be expected to strictly abide by these rules throughout the entirety of this course. You will be required to attend classroom lectures. Upon completion of the classroom portion, you must take a written examination covering all course content and score at least 70%. You will then meet at a firing range facility to perform practical exercises using the type and caliber of handgun with which you intend to qualify. Students are required to show a minimum proficiency of 70% (168 points) on the basic firearms course of fire. The QUALIFICATION COURSE FOR INITIAL LICENSURE shall consist of three cycles of 48 rounds each for a total of 144 rounds to be fired (1 practice round and 2 qualification rounds). Instructors shall record the student’s highest score out of the two qualification rounds.

License Requirements:

(a) Be at least 18 years of age.

(b) Be of good moral character.

(c) Not have been adjudicated incapacitated or not have been involuntarily placed in a treatment facility for the mentally ill and not have been diagnosed as having an incapacitating mental illness, unless a psychologist or psychiatrist licensed in this state certifies that she or he does not currently suffer from the mental illness.

(d) Not be a chronic and habitual user of alcoholic beverages to the extent that his or her normal faculties are impaired.

(e) Not have been committed for controlled substance abuse or have been found guilty of a crime under chapter 893 or a similar law relating to controlled substances in any other state within 3 years.

(f) Be a citizen or permanent legal resident alien of the United States or have appropriate authorization issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services of the United States Department of Homeland Security.

Required equipment for range qualifications. (However, upon request, equipment is available for an additional fee.)

If you are serious about being a Security Officer, this is definitely the place to go!!!!! Mac is so knowledgeable and has so much experience he taught my husband and I how to be the best security officers we can be. We took the Basic firearms course, Class D unarmed security and Class G armed security. Update to my review of The Right Training security School 3/22/2026 After 3 .5 years out in the field working as a security officer after my initial training at, The Right Training security School in Ocala I truly believe that I received the best possible training to prepare me to deal with the public and preform my duties in a safe professional manner... I decided to continue my training and enrolled at The Right Training security School to become an armed security officer G licensee because as an armed security officer I could take on positions that paid more and fill a need for properly trained private armed security personnel. The additional training was a 3 day course and Mac the owner of The Right Training security School personally teachers this course. After completing this course I feel I am ready to take on these additional challenges and responsibilities, however I will say with a bit more caution than I had going into the class about doing this job! I want to thank Mac for opening my eyes and making me aware that there is almost no reason that you can use a firearm unless your life or another person is an imminent danger of serious harm and death, for example you are being attacked with a blunt object or a knife or being shot at and even then you may be prosecuted so the bottom line is be aware of what you think and do and really work on your de-escalation skills because once you are an armed security officer you will always be under the microscope if you use lethal Force and the bottom line folks they let the jury decide your fate. And learning this is what I call being totally prepared to work as an armed security officer and really keeps myself and the public safe and from getting in trouble with the authorities and staying out of prison and going home after work. I took the training course because I want to get back into the workforce because my expenses are going through the roof. The Right Training Academy is a great course and in my view first rate and a cut above for learning how to conduct yourself as a security officer. I am looking forward to finding a security officer position because I am prepared and feel like I can do this type of work like a professional officer should. The classes are limited to around 12 people and all of us were very much engaged in the training. The trainer's name is Mac and I was tempted to call him Big Mac who has a life time of law enforcement experience and holds nothing back from the students and answers any and all questions any one of us had. I am also a concealed firearm licensed holder and there is much to learn about the safe carry of a firearm and the lessons do have educational value of the laws regarding the carry of and God forbid use of a firearm. This is so valuable to anyone who will arm themselves to keep safe and out of trouble with law enforcement. Most people who use a firearm will have a lot of explaining to do and I realize most people are not prepared and really don't understand the laws regarding the use of firearms and may find themselves in big trouble if they use deadly force. Having said this, I highly recommend signing up for training because the Right Training LLC offers many different courses and preparation is the best choice for any person who wants to be prepared for the future.
